Spanish Immersion in Mallorca

Vivir en español: living in Spanish

A full week of Spanish Immersion where Spanish comes naturally. It is not a course. It is about living in the language. In Ses Salines, located in one of the most beautiful settings on the island

1. Vivir en español: What is this week-long Spanish immersion in Mallorca all about?

It's not a course. It's a week living in Spanish.
Forget classrooms, exams, and vocabulary lists. Here you learn Spanish in the most natural way: by living it.

In a private house in Ses Salines, in the south-east of Mallorca, sharing a week with a maximum of two other people. We will have breakfast in a Mallorcan courtyard or in the garden, prepare tumbet while chatting, stroll at sunset towards or along the seashore, read in the garden, sit at the table for a long time, talking about anything and everything while enjoying la sobremesa, without rushing. Just like we Spaniards do.

Spanish is not a task. It is simply the language of life here

You don't come to study. You come to live.
And it turns out that when you live in a language, without pressure and with time, something unlocks. You start thinking in Spanish, dreaming in Spanish, feeling in Spanish.
This isn't forced immersion. It's Mediterranean immersion: gentle, warm, welcoming, human.

2. Who it is for (and who it is not for)

This is for you if:
You've been wanting to improve your Spanish for a while, but the idea of ‘going to class’ exhausts you
You learn better by conversing than by memorising
You value quality over quantity (3 people maximum, not 10 or 15). You can also come alone
You are looking for something that combines learning, culture, experience and real relaxation
You like the idea of long, leisurely, meaningful days with a Mediterranean rhythm
You want to get to know the real Mallorca, not the tourist version

This is not for you if:
You are looking for an intensive course with a certificate at the end
You need formal academic structure, with levels and even exams
You prefer large groups and a ‘language school’ atmosphere
You want a busy schedule full of activities
You expect immediate and measurable results (although you will get them, just in a different way)

Spanish level: Beginner to Advanced.
You need to be able to hold simple conversations. If you only know how to say ‘hello’ and ‘thank you,’ it's too early. If you already speak with some fluency, this will help you experience the language more deeply.

3. A tipycal day

No two days are the same, but the rhythm is similar:

Morning (9:00-12:00)
Breakfast together in the garden or courtyard. Coffee or tea, local fruit, bread with tomato... All locally sourced.
Natural conversation as we wake up.
Then, a gentle activity: perhaps we read and discuss some news, or we go for a walk talking about a topic that came up at breakfast, we visit our local market and we go to meet or interact with someone from the village, or we simply sit somewhere under the olive tree for a quiet chat, or...
Free time: swimming pool, reading, rest. I am available, but I won't chase you.

Midday (13:30-15:30)
A long lunch, if it's the right day, and depending on the time of the year. If it's hot, we change our plans, remember that we have a pool... Sometimes we cook together (simple Mediterranean and Mallorcan recipes), other times I prepare the meal, and you simply enjoy it. The important thing is not the food itself, but the ritual and the after-lunch conversation: that long, relaxed chat that is at the heart of Spanish culture.

Afternoon (16:00-18:00)
Siesta, if you like (very healthy for resting and recharging your batteries). Or reading in the garden, in the hammock among the trees. Or perhaps an excursion to a nearby place of interest, a quiet beach or cala, a fishing village... Some days we go out, others we stay at home and do nothing. Everything at a leisurely pace.

Sunset (18:30-20:00)
Probably the most spectacular time of day in Mallorca, although the sunrises are also very beautiful.
We visit las salinas, have a vermú while enjoying the sunset. Or maybe gentle yoga and/or meditation followed by conversation in front of the sea. Or we just sit and chat about nothing and everything at the same time. Here, the possibilities are endless.
Night
Some nights I'll go with you to dinner at a local restaurant. Other nights we'll organise something at home, an informal dinner in the garden where the barbecue is always available.
And other nights, just total freedom: everyone does their own thing. Which is also a plan.

The important thing:

There is structure, but it is gentle
There is learning, but it is not forced
There is attention, but there is also space

It is the perfect balance between being accompanied and having your independence.

5. The space

A Mallorcan house on the outskirts of Ses Salines.
Ses Salines is a small place that still retains the charm of not being overly touristy. It is a quiet, authentic village with vast fields stretching towards the sea, flocks of sheep and horse farms, historic salt flats and unspoilt beaches without hotel complexes.
The house is very spacious, with a large garden with a private pool, terraces, shaded areas under the trees, corners for reading and relaxing, and a patio for long meals. Common areas where we can get together when we want to, and privacy when we need it.
It is a place to be, not just to sleep. A place where time takes on a different rhythm.

Surroundings:
-10 minutes by car to unspoilt beaches or 20 minutes by bicycle
-5 minutes' walk to the town centre
-10 minutes to Santanyí (market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, galleries, cafés)
-45 minutes to Palma (although you won't need to go)

8. Frequently asked questions

What level of Spanish do I need?
You must be able to hold basic conversations. If you only know greetings and a few phrases, it is too early. You should have at least passed the basic A1 level. A minimum A2-B1 level would be ideal, but I also accept people with more advanced levels who want to deepen their knowledge and feel more comfortable.

Will I spend all day “in class”?
No. There are no classrooms or formal lessons. We spend about 6 hours a day together doing various activities: breakfast, lunch, outings, conversations. The rest of the time is yours to do whatever you want.

Can I go alone?
Absolutely. Most people come alone or with a friend or partner, as an experience to share and enjoy together.

What if I don't connect with anyone else in a group programme?
I'll take care of that, don't worry. It's very rare for that to happen in this type of experience as it is designed. With only 2-3 people in the group and my facilitation, the dynamic is usually very good. You also have plenty of time alone and enough private space and freedom to go out. You are not forced to be in a group all the time.

Are there any tasks or homework?
No. Zero. No exercises or formal grammar in this format. That doesn't mean you can't read or take a look at the structures we use, but if you prefer to disconnect, that's fine too.

What if I don't like the food?
That's impossible! The food is Mediterranean, simple. Mostly vegetarian. If you have any intolerances or allergies, please let me know.

Do I need to hire a car?
It's not essential. But if you want to explore on your own in your free time, a car gives you more freedom. Palma airport is 45 minutes away. The area is great for cycling, for example, to go to the nearest port or the beach, and you don't need to be a cyclist. For other areas, it depends on your fitness level.

Can I extend my stay?
It depends on availability. If the following week is free, we can discuss it. Alternatively, I can recommend nearby accommodation, but the cost would be outside the programme.

Do you organise this all year round?
No. Spring, summer, and autumn. December and January are my rest months, and they are also colder in Mallorca.
